Advice:
My advice to aspiring aviation students is to establish a passion for your work and take pride in it, challenge yourself to progressively learn and grow your skills, and don’t be afraid to connect with other aviation professionals & network to achieve your desired career path.
About me:
My ten-year aviation career started as a parts overhaul technician for a local repair station before moving on to Banyan as an avionics technician. I achieved my FAA A&P certificates in 2015 through Broward College. Followed that up with a bachelor’s degree from Embry Riddle University in 2021, specializing in Aviation Maintenance Management.
I am currently working in the position of Lead Avionics Service Technician at Banyan Air Service located on Ft. Lauderdale Executive Airport. In this role, I oversee and perform routine inspections, as well as AOG maintenance operations covering a variety of business class aircraft.
Some challenges I face in my role as an aviation professional are a scarcity of reliable parts and a shortage of qualified technicians to maintain a team capable of meeting our customers’ scheduling demands. The aspects I love about this job are the responsibility & satisfaction it carries from people trusting you with their safety, the buzz you get overcoming challenging situations, and simply being at the airport every day surrounded by professionals who all share the same passion you feel for aviation.
